History and Tradition
A de Reus space is intrinsically a steward of place. We believe that to live well is to exist within the story of a particular site — its culture, its traditions, its community. With a reverence for traditional materials and construction methods, we build spaces that live in accordance with the identity of a location, authoring a new chapter in its history.
Nature
Each of our projects is formed by a thoughtfully choreographed interplay of architecture and landscape. The continual movement of sun and clouds, the site's surrounding flora and fauna, and the patterns of wind and rainfall are considered and integrated into the design. In this way, and through the use of natural materials such as wood, clay, and stone, the lived experiences we shape are equally mindful of indoor spaces and the world that lives just beyond their walls.
Handmade
Our projects retain an imprint of the human hand at every stage of making. Each commission is custom-made, beginning with hand-drawn sketches and handmade models created in close collaboration with the client and builder. Once the design is complete, it is then realized through the meticulous handwork of expert teams of craftspeople and artisans.
A space becomes a sanctuary when it instills a sense of belonging. These are places where the present is plentiful; where time slows and the noise of the outside world dissolves into finely-tuned silence. It's an idea we call the art of living.
