One Yalong Bay

Sanya, China
One Yalong Bay is a planned community sprawling across 100 acres by the South China Sea. Nestled in a lush valley at the southernmost point of the island of Hainan — whose name translates to "south of the sea" — the resort’s master plan encompasses a boutique hotel, health spa, members clubhouse, and single-family estates and villas. The concept for this resort responds to the natural bowl of the land, with a landscaped waterway that offers a prelude to ocean views.
Designed with the region's tropical climate in mind, contemporary structures abundant with terraces and balconies allow life to be lived both indoors and out. At the clubhouse, walls of glass contrast with the natural finish of a broad stone wall. An elevated swimming pool projects into the greenery, placing one within the realm of swaying palms. The blue stretches of sea and sky remain visible in the distance — both constant presences in the varied experiences to be had at this sweeping mountain sanctuary.
